In this first post, I thought I'd share a bit about the rationale for this blog and what I'm hoping to do here.
So, Work & Words.
This is not a blog about words, nor is it a blog about working per se. You won't find (many) posts about grammar or finding jobs or etymology.
Rather, what I want to write about here is what happens when work and words intersect. What happens when you make your livelihood from words--the fun, the lessons, this mishaps, the tips.
As an editor and writing consultant, I'm privileged to help authors and aspiring authors wrangle words into essays, articles, book manuscripts, website blurbs, ebooks and more.
I like to say that I work with words to make words work for others. (I don't like to say this four times fast, though.)
In doing so, I'm continuously learning about the world of words and the world of putting them to work. Sometimes these lessons are about actual words, sometimes they are about the practical challenges of writing, other times they are about freelancing.
This blog is a place to reflect on some of these lessons, and put them out in the world for others.
Thanks for joining me!
